Mushroom specialist in Velddriel, the Netherlands, selects IT solution from Schouw Informatisering
Food & beverage specialist will implement one integrated solution at Prochamp
Etten-Leur, 17 June 2008 - Schouw Informatisering can add another mushroom specialist to its reference list. Agreement has been reached with Prochamp B.V. in Velddriel to implement Microsoft Dynamics® NAV combined with SI Foodware®. Gerard van Heijst, Financial Controller at Prochamp explains: ‘We are glad that we can work together with Schouw Informatisering, because they already have so much knowledge and experience in the food & beverage sector. We will benefit from this, because Schouw is already supplier to a large number of leading mushroom and canning companies.’
Prochamp
The family-owned company in Velddriel manages a large proportion of the chain itself. Prochamp consists of a compost company, four mushroom farms and a modern mushroom preserving and canning factory. Mushrooms are supplied from contracted cultivators and from Prochamp’s own mushroom farms, where harvesting is fully automatic. Finished products include own brand and private label canned products which are sold to distribution companies, retailers and the food processing industry at home and abroad.
Selection process
‘At the moment we are still working with Exact DOS for which maintenance will cease in July,’ explains Van Heijst. ‘We were looking for one integrated solution so that we can store all our data centrally. In fact we currently do a lot of work in Excel and the administration department does all the data entry.’ This was the main reason for Prochamp to start looking for an integrated solution. Various suppliers were invited to present their solutions, including Schouw Informatisering. ‘It quickly became clear that Schouw is a specialist in the food & beverage sector,’ Van Heijst says and added, ‘We were pleasantly surprised to hear that Schouw’s clients already include some leading mushroom and canning companies.’
One integrated solution
Van Heijst ‘Through the integrated solution from Schouw Informatisering we want to improve the streamlining of all our business processes by storing all our data centrally.’ This will enable Prochamp to take better decisions faster, because the data will be stored real-time in one central database. At the moment the stock of raw materials is periodically booked off manually meaning that Prochamp does not have real-time insight into the available inventory. SI Foodware will give improved insight into the production efficiency because the system will be used to register the raw materials used and the hours worked.
The project
In the first phase of the Prochamp project 21 users will work with the system and bar code printing and scanning will also be implemented. In this way, full traceability will be established from the fresh raw material in the mushroom farms up to and including the delivery of the canned mushrooms to the client. In order to realise this a transparent DSL network between the mushroom farms and the factory is being installed. The scale interfaces at the mushroom farms will then be able to communicate in real-time with Dynamics NAV. For further information about Prochamp please visit www.prochamp.nl.
