"Menken van den Assem improves inventory reliability with RF-Scanning, Microsoft Navision and Schouw Informatisering"
Etten-Leur, December 2003 - In December Menken van den Assem Holding, together with Schouw Informatisering, will start implementing new IT systems to support the business processes. Schouw Informatisering is a Microsoft Certified Business Solutions Partner for Navision. Menken van den Assem already uses Microsoft Navision but wants to migrate to the newest version and at the same time wants to review some processes, in particular the inventory and logistics administration.
The IT project covers three operating companies: Ravoska Kaasimport BV, Menken van den Assem Food BV and Menken van den Assem Products BV. All of the organisations involved are part of the Menken van den Assem Holding. Besides implementing the Microsoft Navision standard modules Schouw Informatisering will also use a number of sector specific solutions developed by Schouw Informatisering for the areas of production and quality control in order to meet all the requirements.
In particular the logistics processes will change considerably. Tracking and tracing has to be implemented and in order to prevent errors during the order picking process, transactions will be entered using barcode scanning based on RF equipment. Warehouse employees will use a hand-held scanner which will communicate with the Navision database in real-time. So when the operator scans a product he may get a message from the Microsoft Navision system telling him that another lot number with a different shelf life should be picked first.
With this project Menken van den Assem not only wants to further streamline the current inventory and logistics administration, but also wants to implement further improvements in the provision of management information and to extend the sales and purchase order administration. This is necessary as the shelf life of products is becoming much more critical.

This implementation project started in December 2003 and is expected to be completed by March 2004.
